whenever i hear radfems talk about abolishing gender and having everyone live as “what they were born as” all i hear is “LA LA LA I DON’T WANT TO ACKNOWLEDGE TRANSGENDER OR INTERSEX PEOPLE LALALA”

whenever i see posts like this from non-radfems talk about all…

congrats, you just proved my point about five hundred times over lmfao

but here’s a teachable moment anyway: intersexuality has little to nothing to do with transness, and intersex individuals aren’t your fucking props to use when you want to seem clever in an argument

I would never claim anyone is a prop, first of all.

Studying the experiences of intersex people is literally linked to what I want to do with my career. And if an intersex person who was genitally mutilated at birth feels they were assigned the wrong genitalia, what do you call that? Being transgender. So they are intricately linked. So no, that’s not a teachable moment, that’s you being ignorant of lived experiences, like I said.

And why is it trans men, like the trans men I love and cherish as members of my extended family, never factor into your argument? How about genderfluid people? Where do they fall? How do you feel about the medically-acknowledged diagnosis of gender and/or body dysphoria? Do you know something the APA doesn’t? Please, educate me. But you can’t, because all you bother to say is “congrats, you just proved my point” rather than actually providing any info that has any real bearing on, well… anything. You just want womanhood to be an exclusive little club for only people with vaginas. And that’s bullshit, because the stuff between your legs shouldn’t rule where you lay your lot in life.

Not a single radfem has ever explained how, in their fantasy world where you cannot deviate from living as what’s between your legs, how intersex people, who may have both genitalia, ambiguous genitalia, etc., are supposed to live. Especially in a world where babies are subjected to “corrective” cosmetic genital mutilation to have the child live as either male or female, and many of these assignments turn out to be catastrophic, and can lead to confusion and suicide when intersex children grow up to be trans or infertile.

whenever i see posts like this from non-radfems talk about all i hear is “LA LA LA I HAVE NO FUCKING CLUE WHAT IM TALKING ABOUT AND I AM GOING TO ACTIVELY RESIST ANYONE TRYING TO TEACH ME LALALA”

If you’re so fervent to teach me, oh wise radfem goddess, then teach me. But if my trans and genderfluid friends’ and partner’s lived experiences don’t match up with the hateful things you have to say, I’ll continue pointing out how hateful it is to deny people the right to live as the gender they choose to live as. ♥

Whose words are more worthy of teachable moments to me? Some radfem who’s probably going to mention something about trans women being men invading women’s few sacred spaces, or my trans and genderfluid loved ones and intersex acquaintances who are hurt by the things you believe? You have once chance to change my mind, but good luck. Also I’m a gender studies minor so I have a pretty damn solid grasp of gender discourse. Oh, oh, and I’m a clinical psychology major whose primary area of research is on the transgender experience, how it affects the brain, and how to treat and counsel transgender individuals and the psychological illnesses and malaise that accompanies the transgender experience and how it is perceived by society, and this reply to my post only strengthens my resolve. Again. Good luck.

Today’s picture for invisible illness is a personal one. This is one of about 30 notes that my friend has received since using her handicapped placard. I’m going to say this to you, have you ever seen someone get out of a car parked in a handicapped space and said to yourself “they look too young or they don’t look disabled.” I’m going to go with yes you have, because we all have at one time. I can’t remember doing it, but before I understood the difficulties of invisible illness when I was younger I probably did. Let me ask you this though, when you had that thought was it because you knew with 100% certainty that they weren’t handicapped or did you assume that because of their age and/or not seeing a cane, walker or wheelchair? All I’m asking is that we stop and think when we someone need a mobility aid, park in a handicapped space or say they are disabled that we remember this “DISABILITY HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH AGE OR APPEARNACE.” #spoonie #invisibleillness #disability #chronicillness #rheumatoidarthritis #lupus #fibromyalgia #myofascialpainsyndrome

If nothing else, this post needs to be seen around the internet more. This harassment is not okay and no one should have to deal with it on top of having an invisible illness. This is just another form of anonymous bullying to add to the internet bullying these TROLLS are capable of.

Ignorance isn’t bliss, ignorance is ignorance.

I never thought about this wow

I refuse to get a disabled placard for exactly this reason. I could have one if I chose, but I look perfectly healthy. If you don’t know that I’m in constant pain every day of my life, you wouldn’t think it was the case. I have enough problems without being yelled at by strangers. Shout out to all my invisible illness/disability brethren.

I have severe asthma and was just diagnosed with early-onset psoriatic arthritis. If I wanted to, I could get a disabled placard. If I wanted to, I could demand the front seats on the bus at school. When I’m with my mom, even if she’s staying in the car, she parks in the handicap spots because she knows I’m trying to hide that I’m in pain. But people will just assume it’s because I’m fat and/or out of shape. Which are both true. But I’m also in a lot of joint pain.

"When did you decide to be gay?"

Last week. I woke up and I was like I want to be judged and not accepted by most of society and denied basic human rights. I thought it would be fun to not be allowed to get married and to be called rude names when I’m with the person I love. I mean, who wouldn’t want that?
